Telephone Fundraising Campaign
During the last nine years over 1,800 of you have generously pledged more than £1.4 million through the annual telephone fundraising campaign, which has made a real and measurable difference to Fitzwilliam’s students. Thank you for your support.
The 2017 telephone campaign ended with more than £240,000 pledged to the College over the next three years, yet another record-breaking campaign for Fitzwilliam. The 13 student callers spoke to almost 600 alumni during the two-week campaign. One of the callers, Randeep Nag (MML 2015), commented “The telethon campaign was great fun. It was a pleasure to speak to alumni and I gained some valuable life and careers advice in the process!”
The donations made are going towards the Bursary Fund and Teaching Fund, helping Fitzwilliam to fulfil its goal of encouraging students from all backgrounds to apply to Cambridge, and assisting them financially when they are here.
The Bursary Fund eases the financial burden on students who need extra support, allowing them to make the most of the academic and extra-curricular opportunities Cambridge offers, regardless of their background. All donations are distributed within the year received, meaning that gifts have an immediate impact, and a regular donation allows us to plan for future provision.
The Teaching Fund supports the College’s teaching load, ensuring that our students continue to receive supervisions led by world-leading academics. Each year Fitzwilliam undergraduates benefit from a combined total of around 20,000 hours of small-group teaching delivered by more than 900 supervisors.
We look forward to speaking to many more alumni in the 2018 telephone campaign, and as in previous years we will write to everyone who we are planning to call, providing information about the campaign and giving them the opportunity to let us know if they’d prefer not to be contacted.
