Imprisonment in 1970s Argentina

Thu, 01/03/2018 - 19:00 to 20:00
Gordon Cameron Lecture Theatre
An 'In Conversation with the Master' event with invited speaker Dr Gladys Ambort

Dr Gladys Ambort will talk about her book Algo se Quebró en Mí (‘Something Broke within Me’ in Spanish) in which she explores her three years of imprisonment and ultimately solitary confinement as a teenage political prisoner in Argentina in the 1970s.

She will discuss the effects of isolation on the individual. Her story is a testimony about imprisonment, but also about human nature, as she lived through three years of unjust imprisonment, followed by several years of exile. Her book, published so far in Spanish, French and German, has had much critical acclaim.
