Nicky Padfield

The Master Nicky Padfield is on sabbatical leave from the University and Fitzwilliam College for the Lent Term; Dr Sean Holly will be Acting Master.

The position of Master is part-time, and Nicky Padfield's main job is in the Law Faculty where she is Reader in Criminal and Penal Justice.

She is taking sabbatical leave to carry out empirical research exploring the release of life sentence prisoners - in particular, people who have been imprisoned for public protection (IPP).

She has been given permission to observe Parole Board hearings and to interview prisoners, probation officers and prison staff, in order to explore the barriers to release.  She will also refresh her earlier research on release from French prisons.

The President, Dr Sean Holly, will be Acting Master for the Lent Term, and Nicky Padfield will be back in the Easter Term.  Sean Holly is Executive Director of Research in the Faculty of Economics.
