ACCOMMODATION FOR UNDERAGE STUDENTS STAYING IN COLLEGE
1. PRACTICAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR STAYING IN COLLEGE
1.1 The College does not provide adult supervision for Students. The College porters will be available to answer questions and provide assistance on the College premises.
1.2 All College Porters and Admissions Tutors are DBS checked. College Porters are first-aid trained.
1.3 In all emergencies, Students should contact the Porters’ Lodge, located at the main entrance to the College on Storey's Way: EMERGENCY CONTACT NUMBER: 01223 332000
The Porters' Lodge is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week and the porters may be contacted by telephone or in person at any time.
1.4 The College has responsibility to take reasonable care for the health, safety and welfare of Students whilst they are on College premises, and it seeks to meet this responsibility in accordance with the College’s health and safety policy. Students will be required to comply with any guidelines or policies which are issued by the College for the safety and welfare of Students and other visitors to the College, such as in relation to what to do in the event of a fire.
2. BEHAVIOURAL EXPECTATIONS
We do expect that students staying on site comply with the behavioural expectations detailed below, in order to ensure the safety of all staff, students and guests within the College.
• Physical or verbal aggression towards staff, students or other guests will not be tolerated.
• Alcohol may not be bought or consumed on or off the College site during the student’s stay.
• Students must stay overnight in the room that they have been assigned.
• Bedrooms are allocated for individual use.
• There are two designated smoking areas at the College – one in the Storey’s Way car park and the other in the Huntingdon Road car park. Smoking is not permitted anywhere else on the College site.
Failure to comply with the above may result in the student being asked to leave the College site.
3. MEDICAL INFORMATION
Please ensure that the medical information section of the Accommodation Request Form has been fully completed, including any known allergies.

PLEASE READ BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR FORM
INFORMATION FOR VISITORS IN COLLEGE ACCOMMODATION
Payment terms are four weeks in advance and your initial invoice will be emailed to you, prior to your arrival date. Payment in full can either be made by an online bank transfer before you arrive, or by sterling cash, debit or credit card when you arrive in person at the Porters’ Lodge, Storey’s Way, Cambridge CB3 0DG. Please note that we cannot accept cheques. You will also be required to sign a room contract before you collect your key. Subsequent invoices for your room rent will be emailed to you on a four-weekly basis throughout your stay, if applicable. These should be paid without delay by bank transfer, or at the Porters’ Lodge which is manned 24/7 - telephone no. (01223) 332000.
Communal areas are cleaned weekly by our Housekeeping staff. Please note that they do not change the bed linen. Bed linen can be exchanged each week at the Linen Room between the L and K staircases, on a weekday between 8.00 – 14:30, or contact the Accommodation and Housekeeping Office on (3)32049. For your personal use, there is a laundry room on the College site and there are laundry facilities at 138 and 139 Huntingdon Road and 91a Oxford Road, at the Fitzwilliam Sports Field.
The weekly rent includes utility charges - heating and lighting. You are hiring the room only and we do not provide cutlery, crockery or cooking utensils. If you plan to use the kitchen and cook for yourself, these items can be bought cheaply at one of the local supermarkets such as Asda, Tesco or Aldi. From College there is a frequent bus service Citi 5 running along Huntingdon Road to Tesco Extra, Bar Hill. The bus stop is in front of North Lodge, Fitzwilliam College.
Please note that certain student facilities, such as use of the gym, library and computer room or the issue of a University card are generally not available to visitors, although access to the library may be arranged by special request. You may use the College Buttery/Cafe to eat, and pay cash at the till or by debit or credit card, but you should check opening times at the Porters’ Lodge, as these do vary, especially out of term.
If you decide to move out earlier than the original departure date given, you must inform the Accommodation Office by email, giving at least three working days’ notice. You may be able to extend the booking once you are here and all arrangements should be made directly with the Accommodation Office.
When vacating your room, please remove any rubbish from your room and then return the key and temporary access card to the Porters’ Lodge.
THE COLLEGE OPERATES A NON SMOKING POLICY IN ALL COLLEGE AREAS, INCLUDING OFF-SITE HOUSES. PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED.
Please note:
The College reserves the right to terminate any booking in the event of an unsatisfactory tenancy. You may be requested to move to an alternative room during the course of your stay, should an emergency situation arise, in which case our students will be given priority in any room allocation.
As a visitor, you will not be covered for personal possession insurance under the College’s insurance policy and will need to arrange your own insurance, if required.
VAT is applicable on any booking of four weeks or less.
