FAST Webinar Series
Fitzwilliam Applicants Support Track (FAST) is a new webinar series for prospective students.
Join the Fitzwilliam College admissions team on Monday evenings from January 2025 to guide you through the process of completing your Cambridge application. Each session will be led by college staff and students, offering the chance to learn more about how to make your application stand out.
FAST is open to Year 12 (or equivalent) students. There is a maximum capacity for students attending the live webinar series, but all webinars will be recorded and available to watch after the event via our website.
FAST Webinar Series Schedule
- 13th January - Introduction to the University of Cambridge (and to Fitz)
- 27th January – The application process (an overview and timeline)
- 10th February – Choosing the right course.
- 24th February – Choosing a College
- 10th March – Student life Q&A
- 24th March - Super-curricular Activities – what are they?
- 22nd April – Admissions Panel 1 – talk to our admissions tutors: what do they look for in super curriculars and what does “good fit for a subject” actually mean
Please Note: This session takes place on a Tuesday due to the Bank Holiday Monday. - 19th May – Personal Statement guidance – the new personal statement format
- 2nd June – Personal Statement guidance – How to write a strong personal statement
- 16th June – Pre-Interview Assessments, College Registered Assessments and written work
- 30th June– Admissions Panel 2 – Personal Statements, written work and Admissions Assessments
- 14th July – Interviews
- 26th August – Admissions Panel 3 – The interview

In the event of over-subscription, places for the live events will be prioritised for students who meet any of the following criteria;
- Are located in one of our Link Areas of Cheshire, Cumbria, Hammersmith and Fulham, or St. Neots.
- Are care experienced.
- Have been eligible for Free School Meals (at any point in the last six years).
- Are, or have been, an asylum seeker or refugee.
- Have significant caring responsibilities.
- Are estranged from close family members.
- Live in an area of low progression to higher education (POLAR4).
- Live in an area of high deprivation (IMD).
- Attend a low-performing sixth form.
- Attended a low-performing GCSE school.
- Are from an under-represented ethnic group, these include: Black African and Black Caribbean, Pakistani and Bangladeshi, Gypsy, Roma and Traveller.
- Are from any background or region of the UK which is under-represented at the University of Cambridge.
- Have had any other personal circumstances that have disrupted your education.
