Professor Geoffrey Whittington is a Life Fellow of Fitzwilliam College, Emeritus Professor of Financial Accounting in the University of Cambridge, a Senior Associate of the Judge Business School, attached to the Centre for Financial Analysis and Policy, and an Honorary Professor at the University of Sussex. He is a Chartered Accountant and has a PhD in Economics and an ScD from Cambridge University.
He has held Chairs of Accounting at the Universities of Edinburgh, Bristol, and Cambridge. He also served a term as a full-time member of the International Accounting Standards Board and has served as a part-time member of the Monopolies and Mergers Commission, the UK Accounting Standards Board, and many other public, professional and academic committees.
Honours include the ACCA/BAA Distinguished Academic of the year Award, honorary doctorates from the University of Edinburgh and Sussex, the Founding Societies’ Centenary Award of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and a CBE.
